Lou Plung, our Chair of the Board, and I had lunch this week with a majority of our community's members of the Jewish Federations of North America National Young Leadership Cabinet. As background, "Cabinet" is a national leadership development and recognition program. These members are nominated, interviewed and then accepted to be part of the Cabinet. The commit to being involved in the community, to making a minimum commitment to our annual campaign and to attending the annual Cabinet retreat.
In my nearly 14 years in Pittsburgh, we have never had more than 5 or 6 members on Cabinet at one time. Going into this summer, we have 12! That means that 12 individuals in our community have been recognized for their serious commitment to our local, national and overseas Jewish community. This bodes well for the future of our Pittsburgh Jewish community.
Lou and I were so "pumped" after this meeting. Listening to them, we could sense their passion for our community. They want to have impact both individually and collectively. I look forward to meeting with and working with them for years to come. I hope each of you will have the opportunity to be inspired by their excitement.
Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom!
