The Pittsburgh Jewish community first convened the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies. 100 years – and millions of lives saved – later, we enter the next century with a renewed passion and commitment to sustain a vibrant Jewish community in Pittsburgh, in Israel, and in 70 countries around the world.
This special birthday will be marked in several different ways, each a reflection of this community's devotion to the Jewish People. Our history is 100 years in the making, and we can't wait to see what happens next.
Included in this celebratory year is the community-wide Centennial Mega Mission to Israel on June 19-28, 2012. The trip will feature special tracks for families, seasoned Israel travelers and first-timers, as well as opportunities to choose your own itinerary.
The Centennial Fund for a Jewish Future (CFJF), the most ambitious endowment effort ever undertaken by our Jewish Community Foundation, has already raised millions of dollars. Designed to create a bridge for our community to the next generation, the CFJF ensures funding for Jewish learning experiences of all kinds to more fully engage our community in Jewish life.
And don't forget about the Federation's Centennial Year Annual Campaign, which provides core operational funding to institutions that work toward Jewish learning, aging & human needs, Jewish community life, and/or Israel & World Jewry.
